Relocation – Relocation

As you know “Heather Ale Ltd” has now moved to Alloa, this move began in March and is now complete. The Alloa brewery has a forty barrel brewlength, much more cask ale storage and our own in house bottling and packing line. We still have plans to improve the Alloa brewery to suit our requirements, and to extend the range of our own products so watch this
space! The town of Alloa has a huge brewing history, at one time there were eight breweries here, and now there is only one ….

Historic Ales from Scotland

These are our well established products, with Fraoch ~heather ale being our main line. Now that we have total control over all aspects of production we will be striving to improve the consistency of our ales as much as is possible. Each season we pick our own wild ingredients from Scotland ’s natural harvest, these include: heather, myrtle, meadowsweet, pine, spruce, seaweed, elderberries and gooseberries then freeze them for use thoughout the year. The trick is trying to get a 2004 batch of heather ale to taste like a 2003 batch …well, now we are starting to blend the flowers so that a more accurate degree of consistency can be achieved.
The philosophy will remain; utilise indigenous resources and produce historic ales.

Fraoch is already Scotland ’s best selling craft ale,we would like to widen its appeal by promoting and introducing it to new drinkers. We will be producing some new point of sale materials which will include glassware, T shirts and information sheets. Along with this we intend to continue with our involvement in the Celtic folk music festivals, country fairs and historic re-enactments.We have also been able to keep our price the same for three years, which makes it much better value. Watch out for a new label design and marketing campaign on Grozet which we hope will liven up its sales ~ “ don’t be a gooseberry … drink grozet !“
